David was born in 1932 in Hartest, the oldest of three children to Bernard and Lucie Marsh. His father worked in the farming industry and David started work on a local farm when he left school aged 15. He subsequently went on to take a farm tenancy at Corders Farm in Lawshall in 1953 where he remained for over 20 years, both arable farming and raising pigs. in 1974 he handed over the tenancy and started working for J Mann and Sons of Saxham (later to become Claas UK) as an agricultural engineer and remained with them until 1997, enjoying the work he was doing and the company he worked for.
David had a strong Christian faith, having given his life to the Lord at age 19. He was well known amongst people in the local Churches and was a member at Garland Street Baptist Church in Bury St Edmunds for nearly 60 years. At Garland Street he was a steward and greeted many people in to the Church over the years.
David leaves behind a wife, two daughters and son in laws, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He loved his family and was loved by them, but we know that he has gone to be where he wanted to be - in the loving arms of his Saviour - and we shall see him again some day.
